Coconut Marketplace invites you to immerse yourself in the rich cultural tapestry of Hawai’i with our exciting initiative – Shore Day. Every Thursday, families can come together at the center for half a day of fun activities including a vibrant Farmers’ Market, Live Music and a mesmerizing Hula Show with Fire Knife dancing. Available Cultural Classes in ʻukulele, hula, and lei-making are also hosted at the Coconut Marketplace Pavilion by Hālau Hula ‘O Leilani. Advance booking and a fee apply. Shore Schedule: A Morning Filled with Culture and Fun
Starting at 9 am, Shore Day unfolds with a colorful Farmers’ Market featuring fresh produce from local farmers and artisans in our front parking lot. Everyone is invited to indulge in the distinct flavors of the Garden Isle. At 10:30 am, an ʻUkulele Class provides an opportunity for visitors to strum along to the enchanting melodies of the island. Next , enjoy a Hula Class from the talented Hālau Hula ‘O Leilani beginning at 11 am, allowing participants to learn the graceful movements and cultural significance of traditional Hawaiian dance.
As the day unfolds, families can delve into the art of Lei Making at 11:30 am, crafting a beautiful floral adornment to take with them. At 12 pm, the marketplace comes alive with a free, Live Local Music Show featuring Hula and Fire Knife Dancing, lead by Kumu Hula Leilani Rivera Low and the beloved Hālau Hula ʻO Leilani, Kauaʻi.
To participate in the Culture Classes*, a simple text to Kamalani at (808) 755-5960 secures your spot. While class fees do apply, the experience is well worth the investment in cultural enrichment with proceeds going toward the support of the Hālau’s students on Kauaʻi. Shore Day is especially convenient for visitors who can explore the marketplace together, whether arriving by car or as part of a group from the numerous timeshare hotels on the Coconut Coast.
